EXPLORE YOUR FUTURE
By Cynthia M. Morrow

“Explore Your Future?  At your age?” my friend said.
“Oh, yes,” I reply. “There is much to do before my demise.”
Goals to rekindle, new paths to follow wherever I'm led.
The journey continues, joy comes with more than a little surprise.

Look back at the past, recall childhood and teenage years.
This was not an easy task - that was all decades ago - you see.
I put on my "thinking cap," memories came with smiles and tears.
A picture here, a letter there - my past had really fashioned me.

Now, what is my life like on the threshold of old age?
A pie for example, a slice for each portion of the time you spend.
Keeping busy, relaxing, traveling afar, or filling a page.
A page from the past, a page for today, none with a caption: The End.

All of my future begins as a fresh adventure at each day's sunrise.
Excitement builds realizing, modestly I hope, there is so much potential.
Potential to write, to live, to explore, and a great future before my demise.
Absolutely, being eighty now makes Exploring MY Future - Essential.
