What We Do
Coming of Age offers programs and resources to help people 50+ explore and discover the best path to a fulfilling and engaged future. These include:
INSPIRING OPPORTUNITIES e-blast
- A "What's New" section about the latest trends in life after 50
- A "Coming Soon" listing of community events where you can learn and find ways to make a difference; and notices of special events.
- "Info for Orgs," a section for nonprofits and other organizations
- A listing of paid and unpaid opportunities at nonprofits and government agencies in the Philadelphia area.
- Invitations to Boomervision!®, a lecture and community dialogue series held at WHYY that invites authors and experts to share their ideas and engage the audience in discussions on diverse topics of interest to people 50+
Each of the 6 sessions of Conversations on the Journey consists of thought-provoking video clips taken from the Coming of Age Boomervision!® presentations by distinguished authors and experts. Topics include health and well-being, leaving a legacy, and embracing change. The video clips, accompanied by a Facilitator’s Guide, get people thinking and talking about life after 50.
Written by a team of published authors, the nine chapters of this e-book posted on the Coming of Age website explore the promise, richness, and challenges of life after 50 and offer provocative ideas to stimulate conversation... in book clubs, on-line chats, and in other discussion groups.
Experience the power of self-discovery and making a difference in these beautifully produced online radio portraits and slide shows/videos of individuals who have transformed their lives after 50.
A 4-part interactive workshop series, Explore Your Future, offers creative strategies for participants to envision a future that is purposeful and rewarding. These, professionally-facilitated discussions are held on-site at workplaces and in a variety of community settings (e.g., libraries, senior centers, and faith-based institutions). A Train-the–Trainers program is also available.
Coming of Age is committed to engaging people 50+ in diverse communities in compelling roles and in strengthening area organizations. The initiative has partnerships with African-American, Latino, and Southeast Asian organizations on community-building projects.

A three-day program for nonprofits that focuses on who people 50+ are today, how to craft and market compelling volunteer opportunities for them, recruitment strategies, how to manage an intergenerational workforce, and action planning.
This training helps senior centers explore new identities, attract broader audiences, develop civic engagement opportunities, create learning opportunities, seek funding, and improve marketing strategies.
