The Mayor’s Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity seeks those 55 or older to be role models, mentors and tutors for the city’s youth through the Community Empowerment and Opportunity's Foster Grandparent Program. Foster Grandparents will work with young people at local schools, hospitals, shelters, daycare centers, and Head Start programs. The West Philadelphia Alliance for Children (WePAC) is looking for volunteers to join their library teams. Library volunteers read with students, check out books together and work on fun literacy activities, such as writing poems, drawing, singing and acting.
