Encore Volunteer Managers Program

In the present economy, many nonprofits have had to downsize and have a greater need for volunteers to help them achieve their missions. In addition, a growing number of community-minded 50+ people are seeking meaningful positions within the nonprofit sector.

With these factors in mind, Coming of Age, the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL), and United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania established the Encore Volunteer Managers (EVM) Programwith support from the Barra Foundation, Pennsylvania’s Department of Aging, and United Way to provide 15 nonprofits with part-time, stipended Encore Volunteer Managers.

In the program’s first year, EVMs have been placed at organizations that serve immigrants, aging adults, and agencies providing basic needs (food, shelter, safety.)
