No! Grandma Is Not Being Asked to Die

health care.jpg
The health care overhaul bill now working its way through Congress would not require older adults to learn how to die prematurely. President Obama debunked this erroneous story at a recent town hall meeting. Advocates for older adults strongly support what the bill would allow — paying health care providers to talk to Medicare patients about expressing their health care desires in writing before they become incapacitated.

Topics: Boomers, Legacy

With Woodstock's 40th anniversary being celebrated this week-end, what better time to consider the Boomers' legacy and how this generation will be remembered. Will it be for the activism and political involvement of the 1960s or the self-interest and materialism that many see as Boomer traits?

Aging as a New Frontier

Topics: Aging, Research
Sara_Lawrence-Lightfoot.jpg.gif
Sarah Lawrence-Lightfoot, a Harvard professor who wrote "The Third Chapter: Passion, Risk, And Adventure in the 25 Years After 50," recently spoke to PBS host, Bill Moyers, about her thoughts on aging and the limitless opportunities for older adults. Lightfoot believes that the years after 50 are "perhaps the most transformative time in our lives." To view the video and/or read the transcript, click here.
