Communiversity is an adult education program sponsored by UMKC's Student Life Office. All of our classes are taught by volunteer teachers. Class topics range from cooking classes to financial planning seminars, from belling dancing to wholistic health.

English As A Second Language
Don Bosco's program, offered in partnership with Metropolitan Community Colleges-Penn Valley, offers six levels of classes, each designed for a different level of proficiency. Students are tested at registration to determine their English skill level, and then enrolled into an appropriate class. GCI's Adult Basic Education program offers GED preparation as well as English as a Second Language classes (ESL) for young and old. The only requirements are the participants desire to learn and the motivation to see it through. With six or seven students per class, they learn at their own pace and advance through a series of five levels with the fifth level an "English only" class. These classes are free of charge as well as study materials and transportation.

Art Classes

JCCC's Community Services division provides a variety of noncredit continuing education courses, workshops, and special events throughout the metropolitan area. Popular personal-enrichment topics are arts and crafts, dance, health, and lifestyles, food and wine, foreign language, money management, and youth programs.
Adult basic education and preparation for the GED exam are offered through Project Finish (sponsored jointly with the Johnson County Library). Both Project Finish and the Intensive English Program work with non-native speakers of English.
