Open Doors Community Advocate
Literacy Kansas City this year celebrates 25 years of providing one-on-one literacy tutoring to adults in the greater Kansas City area. Literacy Kansas City was recently awarded a contract by Missouri Department of Corrections, Department of Probation and Parole to continue and expand our Open Doors Program into its 2nd year.
The Community Advocate will be responsible for recruiting Open Door volunteer tutors and assist the Open Doors Coordinator with student intakes and assessments at Literacy KC and other community agencies.

Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit Christian housing ministry seeking to eliminate poverty housing and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. The affiliate serves Eastern Jackson County, Missouri, USA.
The American Dream Gala is Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity's biggest fundraiser of the year.
The event will be held at the Independence Events Center and emceed by Mavericks Coach, and partner, Scott Hillman. Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, August 21st at 5:30pm, for this is an event you surely will not want to miss.

Volunteers needed to provide Medicare counseling
Shepherd Center is seeking volunteers to help provide Medicare counseling for local seniors and people with disabilities.
Volunteers will receive training and become certified through CLAIM, Missouri’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program. Through this program, Shepherd Center and CLAIM provide free and confidential Medicare assistance.

If you have as little as three hours per month to devote to using your time and talents to serve others at end of life, please consider Odyssey Hospice. If you are a working professional, your skills may be useful to a patient who can no longer leave home or a nursing home.

VITAS Respite-Care Volunteer
VITAS Innovative Hospice Care is looking for kind and caring people to help terminally ill patients and their families-just by being there.
Respite care (sitting with a patient while the caregiver takes a break) is one of our biggest volunteer needs.
We are especially looking for volunteers who would be available during daytime, weekday hours but weekends or evenings are also helpful.
VITAS volunteer orientation is provided free of charge to help you learn the skills required to be an outstanding hospice volunteer. Time and dates are ongoing and flexible.

Safety Patrol volunteers keep our cyclists safe along the route. Ensuring that cyclists follow the route as well as obeying the rules of the road is the key responsibility. Safety Patrol volunteers can volunteer individually or on teams.
