Volunteers needed to provide Medicare counseling

Shepherd's Center Central is seeking volunteers to help provide Medicare counseling for local seniors and people with disabilities.

Volunteers will receive training and become certified through CLAIM, Missouri’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program. Through this program, Shepherd's Center Central and CLAIM provide free and confidential Medicare assistance.

"Shepherd's Center Central is providing a ‘home base’ for these volunteers. We could not function without our volunteers and partners. They are the foundation of our program,” said Carol Beahan, director of CLAIM.

Over 100 partners like Shepherd's Center Central and more than 250 volunteer counselors work with the CLAIM program statewide. These volunteers receive extensive training on the Medicare program, enabling them to answer questions about benefits, options and changes.
