JET Express Volunteer Driver
Help Kansas City's older adults ZOOM around town and stay active and independent! Many vibrant older adults can no longer drive and need help getting to daily activities such as the doctor, the hairdresser, the grocery, or to religious services, to name just a few.
As a JET Express driver, you choose the rides you wish to give based on your schedule.
Provide a ride once a week or once a month - no matter what, you're always providing a lift to an older adult who needs our assistance!
Skills
- Good Communication Skills: Volunteer drivers will need to communicate with the JFS staff program coordinators and with the JET Express members that they are driving.
- Like Spending Time with Older Adults: Volunteer drivers will be giving rides to people over the age of 65. Most of our drivers end up building friendships with the people they drive. It is a very rewarding experience.
Requirements
All volunteer drivers must:
- Be at least 21 years of age and in good health
- Drive their own car that has working air-conditioning and heat, has working seat belts, is clean and has current liability insurance
- Have a clean motor vehicle report and a valid driver's licence
- Complete a background and drug screening
