When I was in my early 20's and I participated in a CivilRights march in which I was arrested. The thing that makes this different from the others arrested at that time is I was a nun, a Daughter of Charity and the six of us who participated in the march were among the first nuns arrested for civil disobedience. I have been gone from the convent over 30 years, I married and have children and sorry to say but I am recently divorced.
I am now 66 years old. In my 50's I wrote a book, Pizzazz, A Plan for Aging with Grace and Style, I went back to school at age 62 to finally get my Masters in Social Work...I am doing it slow and have two more years till I graduate. I also work full time in Home Health Care. And the story I am sending is part of a larger book that I am writing about aging in this century and my spiritual journey. It may end up being two books.
My present outlook is I have 'today' and I will do my best. One day I will indeed get sick and die and hopefully when that time comes I will also do that with some sense of grace and peace. My belief is we have to plan how we want this 'aging' thing isgoing to go or someone else will do it for us. I'm just trying to get the word out and get people talking about creative ways to live the rest of ourlives however long or short that may be.
