I don't agree. One of the things I find as I grow older is a yearning not only to revisit various periods in my life but also a funny kind of nostalgia for historical periods most of which-- e.g., the twenties, the thirties -- I missed.
It's a funny mix of sadness and a zest for re-living and living in times when I can only imagine the sort of life I would have had. More of that double-edged dimension (for me at least) of aging.
Some people say they wouldn't trade this time in their lives for anything. I feel that way and it's exact opposite depending on... what? I'm not sure.
I found this article very interesting - particularly the positive aspects of aging. One thing that interests me is I do not envy my grandchildren and those who will live beyond me. Am I unusual in feeling that every person has his or her time and it is O.K. when it is over?
