Led by Dr. Molefi Kete Asante, people in Philadelphia will pay tribute to the ancestral heritage of free and enslaved Africans at Congo Square (a/k/a Washington Square) located between 6th & 7th and Walnut & Locust Streets.  The event will be followed by brunch, and the first of a series of Community Conversations with archaeologist Cheryl LaRoche, Ph.D. about the First African Baptist Church Burial Grounds and the President’s House Archeological Dig. Lutheran Settlement House (LSH) Takes a 2 Mile Walk Against Domestic Violence in Chestnut Hill

Following a 10:00 am press conference, Lutheran Settlement House, The Chestnut Hill Business Association and the Chestnut Hill Community Association will host their first annual “2 Mile Walk Against Domestic Violence” to raise funds and awareness for Lutheran Settlement House as part of LSH’s annual Purple Ribbon Campaign. The press conference will be held at the Fountain Plaza, located at 8705 Germantown Avenue.
