Intern at Meals On Wheels of San Francisco
Meals on Wheels of San Francisco is seeking Interns for their Social Services and Volunteer Departments! We are looking for somebody who could commit to 15 hours/week for 6 months, working in between the social work department and volunteer department. Meals On Wheels of San Francisco is committed to the belief that all seniors have the right to live independently with dignity and respect in their own homes for as long as is safely possible. Volunteers are the most important resource a community organization can have. This is a proven fact at Meals On Wheels of San Francisco. The support we receive from our 2500+ volunteers year-round is unbelievable and necessary at the same time. We are seeking interns that will help us expand and offer more volunteer opportunities, while meeting even more of the needs of our homebound senior clients. SCHEDULE: Must be able to work Mondays or Fridays (8:30 until 4:30pm) in our Bayview office Must be able to work from home or off-site for 8-16 hours/week Minimum of 24 hours/week total for at least a 6 month commitment
Social Services Intern (unpaid position)
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Handle all outreach to clients for volunteer services offered (ongoing and one-time services) and create a system for client communications record-keeping • Work with Social Workers/Case Managers when relevant in regards to clients • Help implement new “Seniors At-Reach” Program, including specialized volunteer recruitment, training and data management. • Manage our client needs program • Help with volunteer recruitment for Social Work department needs • Client Volunteer Data Entry • Other duties as requested by Volunteer Director QUALIFICATIONS: • BA preferred. Will consider current/full or part-time students. • Experience/strength/interest in one or some of the following: Project Management, Social Services, Gerontology, Public Health, Senior Issues, Community Outreach, Communications, Non Profit Leadership/Management, Volunteerism, and Data Management SUPERVISION: Will be trained by and report to the Volunteer Direcctor
Volunteer Department Intern (unpaid position)
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Help with corporate, school & community group research, outreach and activity coordination • Assist with Special Events and projects • Assist with Volunteer Appreciation efforts • Data Entry: Record and report volunteer activities, hours and other relevant data for individual, event, corporate and community group volunteers • Neighborhood-based volunteer recruitment research • Corporate and organizational volunteer programs research • Assist with gathering photos/video/stories/consent from volunteers for publications • Assist with local and neighborhood media relations • Work with Development department as requested by Volunteer Director/Volunteer Coordinator • Other duties as requested by Volunteer Director /Volunteer Coordinator QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelors Degree. Will consider current/part-time students. • Experience/strength/interest in one or some of the following: Project Management, Marketing, PR, Editing, Communications, Non Profit Leadership/Management, Volunteerism, Corporate Relations, Development and Data Management • That you care about our mission statement • The ability to lift 35 lbs SUPERVISION: Will be trained by and report to the Volunteer Coordinator, Danie Belfield and Volunteer Director, Leslie Nipps.
