Home Safety Installer
Do you enjoy fixing things? Do you know your way around a "honey-do" list? Are you comfortable with a drill? Help us ensure that low-income San Franciscan's can age safely in their homes! Rebuilding Together is in need of handy volunteers that can spend a few hours providing light repairs or installing basic safety modifications - these free safety repairs can make a tremendous difference in someone's quality of life!
Repairs and safety equipment generally involves installing grab bars, smoke detectors, removing shower doors, handrails, installing hand held shower heads, etc. We provide all training, tools, materials and copious amounts of praise! Our mission is to help seniors and adults with disabilities age safely in their homes and we believe in preserving multi-generational diversity of San Francisco.
Installing bathroom safety equipment, minor home safety repairs, installing smoke & monoxide detectors, etc.
Please be comfortable with basic tools (drill, hammer, caulking gun, etc), transportation, a background check (we work with a vulnerable population), able to lift up to 25lbs and please be patient and kind.
Please attend a volunteer orientation, we hold one every 4-6 weeks and upcoming ones can be found on our website. We have a training process for this position that we will explain at our orientation.
From this position you will increase your awareness about installing energy efficiency and weatherization modifications, performing light repairs and the satisfaction of knowing that you've helped a neighbor age safely in their homes.
