CHIEF OF WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

Goodwill SF is currently seeking a dynamic and seasoned leader to fill the role of Chief of Workforce Development. The ideal candidate needs to be an experienced and accomplished workforce and economic development professional and leader.

This position reports directly to the President and CEO is an integral member of the Executive Team.Goodwill Industries of San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin Counties, Inc. is an autonomous not-for-profit social enterprise, founded in 1916. Our mission is to create solutions to poverty through the businesses we operate. Goodwill provides workforce training, education and support for over 7,000 participants and Goodwill employees annually. The People Services Division, working closely with Goodwill's commercial enterprises—including eighteen stores in three counties, an online business, and a reuse/recycling operation—provides employees and participants with on-the-job training and support while diverting over 25 million pounds of goods from landfill and funding 85% of the organization's operating budget.

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Arts in business administration and/or human resources or a related field is required. Applicants with extensive related work experience may be considered.
  • J.D. or M.B.A. is desirable.
  • 15 years + experience working with top leadership to transform and change organizational systems and culture with an eye toward greater innovation, accountability, collaboration and responsiveness.

  • Resourceful and well organized.

  • Board and/or volunteer experience.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to get along with diverse personalities.
  • Ability to manages people well and gets the most/best out of the people
  • Sets and communicates guiding goals that measure accomplishment,  hold people accountable and gives useful feedback
  • Ability to delegate effectively
  • Effectively supervise, administer disciplinary actions, train, evaluate staff
  • Respects and has knowledge of cultures, ethnicities, gender, sexual orientations and age groups other than one’s own, able to work effectively with all
  • Ability to build diverse networks.
