Join the Community Education Partnerships team of volunteers who provide free tutoring to children who have been affected by homelessness. Our tutors provide weekly one-on-one tutoring to the students we serve, most often at shelters and transitional homes throughout Oakland and Berkeley. By offering free tutoring, school supplies, enrollment assistance, and access to enrichment activities, Community Education Partnerships strives to remove some of the many educational obstacles homeless children face.
Help students develop their ideas, strengthen their writing skills, and become more confident writers and critical thinkers. Become a volunteer writing coach at Richmond High! WriterCoach Connection brings teams of trained community volunteers into English classes to give students precious one-on-one attention on their classroom writing assignments. "It's the highlight of my week," says one coach. Teachers confirm that student writing and self-confidence improves dramatically with the individualized support and encouragement of their writing coaches.
