Don't Let Homelessness Stop a Child's Education

Join the Community Education Partnerships team of volunteers who provide free tutoring to children who have been affected by homelessness. Our tutors provide weekly one-on-one tutoring to the students we serve, most often at shelters and transitional homes throughout Oakland and Berkeley. By offering free tutoring, school supplies, enrollment assistance, and access to enrichment activities, Community Education Partnerships strives to remove some of the many educational obstacles homeless children face.

WriterCoach Connection brings teams of trained community volunteers into English classes to give students precious one-on-one attention on their classroom writing assignments. Teachers confirm that student writing and self-confidence improves dramatically with the individualized support and encouragement of their writing coaches.

Located in West Oakland, Civicorps helps young adults, ages 18-24, obtain a high-school diploma, secure a living wage, pursue post-secondary education, and embark on family-sustaining careers. Civicorps is looking for volunteers to provide one-on-one and small group Academic Coaching support for our students. Our youth have overcome great odds and are ready to transform their lives through education and job training. Our Academic Coaches provide crucial educational support to help Oakland's high-risk young adults achieve their dream of earning a high-school diploma.
