Aging Services

Since 1977, Pennsylvania's Area Agencies on Aging (PAAA) have advocated for the state's older citizens -- promoting their continued physical, social and economic self-sufficiency. The PAAA pursues their right to choice and dignity in daily living and strives to furnish its member agencies with the essential resources to deliver quality services toward this goal.  Below: information about local Area Agencies on Aging  and other Aging Services.
 
The Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) are also the local representatives of the Pennsylvania Department of Aging.  With 52 offices, serving 67 counties, they implement various programs for older Pennsylvanians:
 

Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA) This link takes you to another site and will open in a new window

This is a private, nonprofit organization serving Philadelphia since 1973.  One of the region's largest nonprofits – and the fourth largest area agency on aging in the nation – PCA is dedicated to improving the quality of life for older Philadelphians or people with disabilities by helping them achieve optimum levels of health, independence and productivity.  PCA delivers a variety of social support and health care services to 70,000 consumers each year.

The mission of this agency is to develop comprehensive services to assist older people so that they can remain independent and to prevent the need for premature assisted-living arrangements.  The Bucks County AAA serves as an advocate for all older persons in Bucks County and offers more than 20 programs to help older adults and their families. 

Chester County Department of Aging Services This link takes you to another site and will open in a new window

This agency was established in 1971 by the Chester County Commissioners in response to the needs of the county’s growing age 60 and older population.   Some of the services delivered include adult day care, assisted living/personal care facilities, family caregiver support, home care, home-delivered meals, senior centers, senior games, senior rental housing and volunteer opportunities.

Since 1975, this agency has been dedicated to planning, developing, coordinating and administering a comprehensive and coordinated service system for older county residents.  The agency’s services are geared toward promoting well-being and maintaining independence and dignity in a home environment for as long as possible.  Some of COSA’s services include information and referral, senior employment, foster grandparent program and protective services.

Montgomery County Office of Aging and Adult Services (MCAAS) This link takes you to another site and will open in a new window

Through this agency, Montgomery County residents age 60 and older are offered a range of services designed primarily to assist those in need. Some of the advocacy services and programs include care management, family caregivers support, in-home services, protective services, long-term care services, senior centers, home-delivered meals and transportation.
